Jason Voorhees  from the Friday the 13th movies is another perenial Halloween favorite that can be transformed into a group costume.

One way is to have someone dress as Jason, and several victims for him to chase, maybe a few that he has already caught.

One of the continuing themes of the later movies is that someone is emulating Jason and copying his methods. Step this one up a little and get everyone into a group with hockey masks and machetes, but make it obvious that you are together and not actually Jason himself. You all wear WWJD t-shirts!

No, not what “would Jesus do”, but “what would Jason do?”

You’ll be a very striking group walking down the street, maybe even have some pamphlets to hand out evangelist style.

“Have you talked to God today? Jason could help you see Him sooner.”

Inappropriate? Hey, it’s Halloween! All the best costume ideas push a few buttons.

You could even combine these, mix and match, have fun! A set of Jason acolytes chasing randy camp counselors! Splash a bit of blod around for good effect.
Stay tuned for more group costume ideas.

Coming up with group costume ideas really isn’t as hard as you might think

Group costumes are really fun at big parties, or big public parades like we have here in Kent, OH. Frankenstein and his bride may go un-noticed as there are so many, but add in Victor, Elizabeth, Igor and some townspeople with pitchforks and torches, and you have a real show going.

The basic idea is to take any character people generally dress up as, and build it out with a supporting cast. Harry Potter by himself is way overdone, but get a whole group together as Hogwarts students and faculty and you may have something. Throw in one or two of Hagrid’s pets to really wake up the crowd.

If one of your favorite bands has a distinctive look, get everyone to dress up as them. I remember seeing a lot of Kiss groups in the late seventies and early eighties. Slipknot and Gwar would be good group costume choices today.

If you have a really big group, reverse it and have everyone go as the same character. Who could miss a dozen Frankenstein’s monsters taking over the party? Will the real monster please stand up?

Big groups of zombies are always popular, but add in a zombie slayer or two from Resident Evil and you have a group theme. once you have your creative juices flowing, you’ll see group costume ideas everywhere.
